I have never actually eaten emu meat but I hear it has the appearance of red meat and is delicious... and is popular among the healthier eaters who believe red meat is bad for them.. theres a benefit!!!
hello all I had to buy my first dozen eggs yesterday in 3 years, my girls are just to cold I guess. to my surprise a dozen of 'free range' brown eggs were 4 dollars a dozen and a 18 pack of white whatever they are eggs was 1.09... I opted for the white to see if the family would figure this...
my dough is kneading for the second time itilian herb and cheese bread tonite with spaghetti and meatballs the bread smells amazing and hasnt started nbaking yet!!!! zelienople is about 100 miles south of erie or 30 miles north of pgh. off interstate 79
i recently bouught a bread machine and am completely into it making a loaf a day giving 1/2 away when need be so that i can make another one! is there any known cure for this!!!!!:P
hi everyone its pete from zelienople (butler county) as we all prepair for this crazy cold steamrolling at us is anybody taking percautions for their chickens? i personallly have never put heat in my coop and dont plan on it however -40 is drastic i plan on putiing a bale of straw in the coop...
i agree im not planing on eating them i have only 8 but when their laying days are over i wanted to process them and give meat to a friend. i guess my question is at what age do chickens typically stop laying? im in this for the eggs period, yes they are 'pets' but im not going to spend money...
my girls (8 rhode island reds) are only laying 2 sometimes 3 eggs eever since the clocks changed. this is their second winter and i use no heat nor lights. last winter they slowed some but not like this. my wife thinks its time to order babys and put these to the freezer. she said after to years...
for the eggs of course! ii origionally thught we'd get 15 and have 8 layers and eat the remaining but weirdly enough these creatures became my pets i like them they follow me around wwe do yard work together drink beer and hang out! so i have 15! aand eat alot of eggs

i agree with Bruce last two nites it warmed up to 10 degrees and i got 4 eggs each morning from my 8 girls last week it was negative 10 and all 8 were laying eggs. Does anyone use lights? heat of any kind? i do not and never will but people i know that do their chickens stoped laying completely..
i agree with you wingstone price of food is outta controll.. i raise and slaughter a pig and a cow every year and harvest normally 8 deer with the help of my 2 boys grow and can all summer and truely believe thats whats suppost to be.. a better life comes with better food this i am certain!
thanks for the input on guinea hens im going to definatly get some gunna try and not let my daughter spoil them so they kiinda run wild.. i heard they roost like turkey and taste like grouse! althuogh i have a old 10x10 shed im gunna convert into a coup for them
