I was up for nearly 48 hours before I finally got some sleep. I bought 8 CCL eggs, but only had room for 7 in the incubator. Out of those 7, five made it to lockdown. Of those five, I wound up with 3 pullets and a roo so far. I don't think the last egg is going to hatch, but I've left in the...
SWEET RELIEF... my hatched chicks are all up and peeping and my pipped chick is cheeping in its shell.
I will leave them alone now and let things progress as if this blip never happened.
The temp is back up to the 99.3F area, and my chicks seem much happier... up and moving and active and loud.
I honestly haven't been measuring humidity at all. :/
Thank you for all of your help. I appreciate it. This is my first time hatching out chicks and I haven't slept but an hour or two...
This all may be moot; I just found my incubator at 77F!
I have absolutely no idea what happened; last I checked (about an hour ago), we were holding steady at 99.5F. The incubator was still on, and there hadn't been any power surges or anything.
If I lose my chicks because of this, I am going...
Thank you.
The pipped chick hasn't progressed in quite some time, but I am trying not to worry about it too much. Just seems a little odd since the other three moved along fairly quickly. :/
I have a brinsea mini advance that I incubated 7 cream legbar eggs in. Five made it to lockdown.
I've had three hatch so far (and one with an external pip) and they were flailing and tripping all over their shells; it seemed very cramped, so I opened up and quickly removed their shells.
Now...
GUYS. GUYS.
I put my 5 CCL eggs on lockdown last night (hatch date 3/13 ~8:30pm). I have one super active wiggler, but I have 3/5 that have pips! I am also hearing little cheeps from them, and OH MY HEART.
There is one pipped egg that is rockin' & rollin' all over town, but the other two with...
My first ever batch of eggs is officially in lockdown as of 8:40pm tonight. They are due to hatch 3/13. I candled them, but I'm not really sure what I'm looking at, though I'm convinced that one was moving at me when I touched its shell.
Wish me luck. I am a nervous wreck.
I'm not sure if I've ever posted to this thread before, but I'm in Johnston Co., NC, by way of Charleston, SC.
I have a flock of 5 right now; they're about 10 months old now. I have also just set my first hatch of eggs in an incubator. I put 7 CCL eggs in about 21 hours ago. :)
Glad to meet...
My incubator has an automatic turner that I can set for specific intervals; my questions is how frequently the eggs need to be turned. Right now, it's set to turn every two hours, but it can be changed if needed.
Hi, all.
I just set 7 crested cream legbar eggs at about 8:30pm EST last night.
I have my incubator set for basically auto everything, as this is my first time attempting to hatch eggs.
I do have a question, though: How often should I set my incubator to turn my eggs? I have no idea. :(...
I have just set 7 crested cream legbar eggs in my Brinsea mini advanced incubator!
These are my first attempt at hatching eggs, and they're due to hatch around 3/13 (I purposely set them to have a hatch close to my 3/17 birthday).
I am anxious to see how this goes and look forward to...
Ironically, we watered the garden today and it's now thunderstorming!
I figure eating a bucket of Bojangles fried chicken in front of them should kick them into gear, too, no?
