We have some expired dried powdered milk. Is it safe to give it to the chickens? I can't really see why not, since you can give them fresh milk, but better safe than sorry. Thanks!
One of our barred rock chicks has what we thought was curly toe. It's leg was paralyzed, it couldn't pull it in, it was left sticking out at an odd angle. It's toes curled upwards. We poured b12 super concentrate into the water. We also put it on the chick's foot/leg. It helped a little, but it...
A banty hen has foaming eyes! It's mounds of foam gathered up in the front corners of her eyes. She can still see, but the foam is blocking some of her vision. The foam is just white, bubbly foam, like you get when you wash dishes. That's the only thing wrong with her, she's competely fine...
I just got a polish chicken. I knew they had feathers on their faces, but I saw some at fair and you could see their eyes. The one I got, you can't see his eyes, and he's completely blind. He doesn't react when you pass your hand an inch from his face. Is this normal? Can you trim the feathers...
Hi! I'm hand-raising my very first chick, a silkie. It's doing quite well, and aproaching one week old. It's quite healthy, chirpy, and alert. I think it might be a silkie cross. Don't silkies have the walnut combs, the wrinkly lump of flesh on their forhead? Because my chick doesn't have it. It...
Are there any banjo players out there who can help me? C chord is a problem note for me, the fifth string nearly always "thunks" instead of vibrating like it should. No matter how careful I am of not touching the fifth string with another finger, and making sure my finger doesn't touch the fret...
As suggested by the title, this is where hunters can hang out, talk about hunting trips, discuss the merit of different calibers (and different bows, for bow hunters), and what your hunting this year. PM if you want to join, I'll add you to the members list. (Guests welcome, too)

As the title suggests, this where music video makers can hang out, talk about the music videos they're making, complain about the side stitches from practicing it one too many times, and share it when it's done. (If you are allowed to, no problems if you aren't)
Right now I'm working on a...
Our guineas have graduated from the cage to free ranging! They have happily picked off the red ant piles, and are enjoying froliking in the hay field. They go back and roost on top of their cage at night (There are two big guard dogs who keep the coyotes at bay).
Also, they're starting to...
*Oops, Diary, not Dairy!*
I saw a lot of these around for chickens, and thought they were cool, so I'm gonna do one for my first goat since she really has an interesting life. This won't be recent, this is just a storytelling approach.
1. Sometime in the middle of March....

Anyone have any good ideas for slightly exotic names for characters in stories? I have a great story idea, but I need slightly exotic names, and I can't start until the characters all have names, it's driving me crazy! Nearly all of my attempts at "exotic" names sound like baby talk :P
We got chick grower for our guinea keets, but the person we got them from said that they needed more protien, and to chop up hot dogs for them for the protien. The feed store is 50 miles away (And we don't eat hot dogs). We were thinking, would peanut butter work? It's pretty much all protein...
We got our guinea keets! They're funky looking, but they sure are funny to watch! They are in one of those closet-moving-boxes (slightly dismanteled) In the laundry room (In the basment) with a heat lamp. The are on, I think it's poultry grower. I heard that they like to look at themselves, so I...
