    "Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

That's ok, you're forgiven. I have been posting this everywhere like crazy. Getting a good bit of interest for it. I am hoping for at least 20 sets of folks bringing birds. I would consider that a grand success!

    Polish Genetics

I am looking for help in understanding polish color genetics and the do/do nots of breeding them. Is it ok to mix colors, ie buff laced rooster with a silver laced hen? If so, what would the results be? I am also a bit confused on the bantam/standard issue. What is the size for each and can...

New to all this...but they are hatching!!

I have 8 babies in the brooder now and one still hatching. I am pleased with the number. 9 out of a dozen doesn't sound like a bad ratio. This number nine though is taking its sweet time. I am hoping all is well.

    my refridge-ibator works!!

I am a newbie to this myself, but from all the reading I have been doing, I would wonder about it being too warm and the chicks hatching early at day 20. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. The incubator looks pretty cool though, just maybe the temperature tweak is needed.

    old incubator

I was curious about this piece and tried doing a little quick research. I found a brooder light that is selling for over 300. alone. I could imagine what this incubator would go for. http://www.etsy.com/listing/111707245/buckeye-colony-incubator-light I just found this old advertisement for...

New to all this...but they are hatching!!

I put a dozen eggs in a hovabator still air incubator on the evening of March 7th. I attempted to candle at 8 days and could not really tell what I was looking at (newbie here). Then I candled at 15 days. Five of the brown eggs showed very active chicks inside. The green eggs though, I could not...

Rabbit water nipples (specific answer request)

I have read the threads where the chicken water nipples are used for watering systems. I could not locate a specific answer on whether or not rabbit water nipples could be used. My local feed store has these, along with the pvc "T"s that have the screw in hole for the brass nipple. They are a...

    Hello everyone

Hello and greetings from Louisiana. I recently "acquired" 2 black hens and two roosters because they kept coming down to my house and my neighbor said he didn't want them anymore. They had already decimated my winter garden,so I came to the conclusion that I had to fence the chickens or fence...

Problem with Site - Not Sure Why

Hi Folks, One thing you might try doing is disabling or even uninstalling the Java from your browser. Clear your caches and then go get the latest Java. They have just released new versions to counteract a lot of hacking that was going on. HTH
