SO I'm thinking I may simply have unfortunate luck. I'm pretty convinced the the blue Copper Maran is a roo. Even the attitude is cockier (pun intended) than the other two.
99.9% this one is a roo
An Americauna I still have some hope for being a pullet, buuut am thinking there are...
Okay that just makes me laugh "You can keep chickens until someone complains of noise". Seriously every single one of my neighbors who has dogs or children create more noise than the chickens. Every once and awhile the chickens go on honking bender, but for the most part they're pretty quiet...
I called my HOA, the person I got seemed very confused and told me I couldn't have a rooster. Later (after I got them) someone told me no chickens in a conversation in a store (not official HOA), but no one ever officially told me to get rid of them either. I know of 3 ppl in Glennewilde...

My mom threatened to host an intervention if I purchased a goat over christmas. LOL Chickens are strange enough for her in the city. I got a good laugh from this one.
maybe they are just having some sort of sit off contest in the one egg laying corner of the coop.... with those two I wouldn't put it past them. It's just weird not seeing my two most zoomy chickens not roving the yard.
They haven't stopped laying. My girls take their egg a day seriously. They just don't want to leave the coop. They just hang out in the egg laying spot trying to take up one corner of it.
So I have a broody question. My Silke, Fireys, started going broody this weekend. It took me a couple days to figure it out since I figured she was just taking her time laying her daily egg. That isn't, however, the case. she's in there until we throw her out at which point she gets a drink...
that rat looks bigger than one of my freakin cats. Just no. I guess I grew up on a farm and rats were the enemy. I had a pet rat for awhile as a kid, but she was cute black and white "little/normal" rat. BUT I have chickens, some people have rats. To each their own I guess. :)
Okay random question I just don't want to keep live crickets around... that's why I have chickens, but I like giving them as treats. I know I can buy dried meal worms, or I can spend a crapload and buy a cricket meal worm mix at petclub for treats. Does anyone know of anyone selling dried bugs...
Aren't chickens funny! Mine go after lizards too, and MAN can they book it when chasing them! When I think of chickens I so do not think of "vicious predator" I think of prey animal... and while they are... they have the hearts of vicious predators if they can somehow fit something in their...
SO I just HAD to show my husband this picture because the wtfery was pretty high on my scope. He is a much more extensive nerd/geek than I am. He saw it and was like, oh Nyan Cat. And I'm like ... ? He then forced me to go to youtube and look it up. OF COURSE there's an annoying thing to...
Here's a newer photo showing her tail. She is laying btw.
And here's one I think shows the shape of the feathers on her head better.
Anyway hope this helps. :) Sorry for all the spam pictures. I went through three Roo's before I finally just purchased a hen from City Farm. It was...
Looks like a Polish Roo to me.
Here's what my female Polish looks like. Notice the feathers on the head are smoother and more shaped. The roo's get .. well ... crazy hair.
Also note that near tail how there are long curved feathers & the tail is much longer and more curved.
Dahlia's tail...
Happy Holidays all!
I decided I needed some festive pictures today and coerced one of my chickens to wear a kitty outfit. :) I think she looks smashing!
I hope you are all having a fantastic holiday!
Peep's color is def red.

This is something I completely agree with. I will also say that I was spanked as a kid, and each and every time I deserved it. Though I think for me the act of being spanked was way scarier than the actual pain of smack to the rump. Kids need boundaries and to respect their parents...
