    Opinions on best egg layers

I have been doing some research recently for my next lot of chickens, I think that the australorp would be hard to beat for egg laying in good conditions. I found this article and I'm very impressed with them. It was the egg laying performance of Australorps that attracted world attention...

    Help please

They are going well. I think it being winter and her having so many eggs (16) she couldn't incubate them properly. Next time she sits on eggs I might only let her sit on 8-10

    Help please

Sadly the duckling passed away, I was hopeful because it was moving around and chirping and looking strong but it must have been to much for it. I'm also not sure how to delete this thread.

Help! Three out of our five chicks were killed. What do I do?

Personally I would keep just the two chicks, they will keep each other company and be fine. Then after a few months I would buy some more and once the new ones are big enough slowly introduce them to each other. They will be fine :)

    Foot stomping chickens

Makes sense to use a 2x4 cos sometimes the brown hen sleeps on top of the nest boxes and it is a flat ledge. I used posts from trees, old pallets and recycled tin to build the coup and the roost. I used it for the roost and coup because I thought it would be more natural for the chickens and a...

    polish chicks gone wild!

Polish are very nervous/skittish chickens :barnie. Once the plume grows on top of their head it gets hard for them to see, so they can tend to freak out at movements. Maybe over the generations the nervousness has been bred into them, therefore making the chicks nervous/edgy chicks. Talking to...

    Duck grooming chicken

Hey all, I have 4 chickens and a pair of khaki Campbell's in the same coop. Over the last few weeks I have noticed the male duck Grooming one of the chickens, it seems like strange behavior to me:/ but I am fairly new to raising poultry. Just want to know if it is normal or common behavior. :)

New member, new flock, new coop, all new to us!

Welcome to BYC With the coop, bigger is better in my opinion. If you go a fair bit larger than you need, you shouldn't have to clean it as much ect and most people usually decide after a while to expand their flock, so then u would not need to modify the coop if you decided to have more chooks...

Looks like they have used a 120' elbow that the pipe slips into at the top. Great idea
