Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

So has the 'cat hater' been rebranded as a 'cat daddy'?!

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

My gardening zone is 9a if that helps. I live in the mountain foothills just at the snowline. We have a few days in the summer of 90 degree weather but found a great way to keep the girls cool. They love their wading pool. They seem to like water unlike any chickens I have ever seen/cared...

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

So you are saying that in my 4'x8' coop (32sq ft usable floor space) with external nesting boxes I can have 16 chickens?!? YIPPEE! I have 7 in there now with 5 chicks coming in a week. I thought for some reason 12 was my max and only ordered 5 this spring. Now I can get 4 more from the feed...

Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

A few years ago we were living in a cabin in the mountains about 15 miles from here and the cabin was infested with mice. We only had 5 of the cats at that time and they proved to be very good mousers for indoor cats. Only one mouse made it out of the cabin alive but I don't think he survived...

Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

I just finished reading the entire thread and I have to say I LOVE the Adventures of Finn! We don't have outdoor cats but 6 indoor kitties. Only because in our area cat are not liked by everyone and there are people who trap them and take them to the pound even if they have collars and homes...

    January Molt ??

I am also experiencing molting with young hens. The three at the top of the pecking order are molting. They will be a year in March and started laying at the end of July. Just like the OP nothing is different or changed except one of the younger hens went broody last month. It lasted a few...

When do Salmon Faverolles start to lay?

Frou Frou came from My Pet Chicken. She looks like a salmon faverolles with the extra toes, feathered feet/legs and the coloring. She just has a very large comb and no beard or muff. She is my big ball of fluff! My EE has more feathers on her face than Frou. Hopefully I'll get a faverolles...

    Faverolles Thread

My Frou must be a Faverolles freak of breed nature. But then she is the beardless wonder. She has a nice sized comb and her feet/legs have some feathering but not enough to be considered snow boots ;) She is sweet and talkative when I go out to tend them but she is far from the bottom of...

    French frogs

We have 2 Springer mixes and the burps are the worst! The younger one, Summer, tries to crawl up the bed towards the pillows. I have woken in the middle of the night nose to nose with her to have her burp in my face! Her big sister, Winter, likes to try and get under the covers and fart...

When do Salmon Faverolles start to lay?

Here is my update... Frou Frou laid her first egg today at 26 weeks old. She turned 26 weeks yesterday. She started squatting at the end of last week and today there was a small cream colored egg in the coop. I think it took her by surprise because she has been tearing up the nests and I...

    Faverolles Thread

I'll see if she'll pose for some pictures so you can see what a beardless SF looks like. Also she is far from meek with the other chooks. If we didn't already have a few hens that were older when we got our chicks from MPC Frou Frou would have been the top of the pecking order. She likes to...

    Faverolles Thread

I got my Frou Frou from My Pet Chicken. She is sweet to me and pretty BUT (here is the big butt. ;)) she is beardless. She is 24 weeks old and not yet laying though she is showing interest in the nests. I have heard MPC gets their Faverolles from Meyers.

No. The Inland Empire is Riverside, San Bernardino, Big Bear etc. Off the 10 on your way to Las Vegas or Indio. Or the Indian casinos.

When do Salmon Faverolles start to lay?

I only have one Faverolles in my flock. Frou Frou is 22 weeks old and showing great interest in the nesting boxes. Then so are the other pullets from her hatch date (2 wyandottes). They have been rearranging the nesting pads and herbs. Half the time the dummy eggs are tucked in the corners...
