    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

So I am looking for a cheap or free rooster in northern Indiana if anyone is looking to get rid of one. I'm in Bristol (east of Elkhart and South Bend). I am down to 6 hens (lost 5 half grown hens and 2 half grown ducks to unknown predator and also a juvenile Bald eagle) and am hoping a rooster...

Thanks! I am actually glad she is no longer broody. I only have three laying age hens. Now since she took over the only best box the other two have been laying elsewhere I am guessing. So I will be locking them all inside all day tomorrow to see if I can get them back to laying in the best box...

So one of my hens has gone broody. I have tried everything to break her from the trance but it's not working. So I figure might as well find some eggs for her to hatch. Anyone that can quickly ship some eggs for a decent price? Not looking for anything specific but would love some heritage...

So I hopefully picking up some midget white poults (older poults more like half grown). I know nothing about midget whites. But it's the only lead on heritage breeds in my area I've had all spring and they are priced right. Also my current flock free ranges all day even the chicks and...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Well we were doing so great not a single lost chick and no raccoon incidents and then the smallest chick disappeared somehow somewhere yesterday. I left the barn shut up yesterday and the coop inside the barn shut because of the torrential downpours but the chicks found a spot where they could...

I'm still on my hunt for a few turkeys. I think you all may be my only hope. The reason I bought chicks from rural king is our TSC and Big R stop selling chicks after mid April. It was way too cold for me to want chicks that early even with a heat lamp.

We have ten acres and almost all of it is about three ft high grass. Im sure the neighbors aren't pleased but that's what they get for living in the country lol

In other news I moved 4 of the chicks and the two ducks from the brooder (a huge Rubbermaid water trough) to the coop. Two are about 6 weeks old and 2 are 4 weeks old (I'm guessing). They're all starting or mostly feathered. The ducks are only like 2 or 3 weeks old but are too big and messy for...

A trip south would definitely fix my problems but I don't have any time to get down there until July. Plus I hate to transport chickens to terribly far. North side of Indy is probably my limit that's about 2 and a half hours one way. Maybe less now with the bypass in Kokomo.

If all else fails we have a 1000 sq ft empty pole barn set on dirt that I can throw the hens in. Not predator safe for night but good for daytime. But we have a ten acre farm and lots of hiding places if any Hawks show up. Last night the dogs and I treed a coon but I don't have my 22 anymore...

I don't have a run. But the coop is inside a barn and is about 8 by 12 for only 3 full grown hens. If they get spooked they run for the barn. Hey don't necessarily have to go in the coop they can roam around the barn too. I'm just looking for a few more laying age hens and a roo for some extra...

I'm still having no luck finding any heritage breed turkeys!!! Have had ads on Craigslist and Facebook groups posted for a month and nothing. Can't even find anyone interested in splitting an order from a hatchery. I don't even need people interested in turkeys as most hatcheries will mix with...
