At our school, the county 4-H provides free eggs for hatching in the classroom. These are the Cornish Cross meat chickens though. You could contact your local, county, or state 4-H office, and they might be able to give you information on finding the ones that are needed. Hope this helps!!

So sorry for your loss.... I have Dominiques, and they are great chickens!! They are calm, very hardy, and good egg-layers!!! My roo is as calm as the hens.... I love them!! I don't have any experience with the others, though. Have a great day!!!

Thanks, SadieSue! I will have to find me one of those! I've been hatching and candling for awhile, but I just use a small flashlight that I have on hand, and I've never gotten a view like that!

I hatched 5 ducks in my 2nd grade classroom. These eggs came from my parents who have muscovies, mallards, pekins, and khaki campbells. This is a pic of all 5 of them kinda smooshed together. We kept two of them. The smallest one because I kinda have a soft spots for runts.... And this...
