    Nutritional Deficiency in Chick?

Yes I saw her preening herself a lot, but never saw her pull them out. I might also add that she had this problem before the silkie was introduced aswell. So she was definitely self harming. But since adding the extra eggs daily and lots of goodies i've noticed over the past week new feathers...

Yes as it turns out, it seems to be normal. Baby budgie digested all the seed the next morning :) worried for nothing! Thanks everyone.

I don't, no. But they do have cuttlebones and a couple mineral blocks in there though. I also give them calcium and vitamins in their water.

    Budgie crop full of seed

I have a pair of budgies that have been feeding their bubba bits of seed. His crop is full of it and doesn't look like it's digesting, ALTHOUGH.. he is doing lots of poos, so that means it would have to be digesting, right? He grows bigger and bigger everyday. But I only just noticed the seeds...

    Incubating Muscovy Eggs Progress

Little update on the kids! all growing happy and perfectly. I have learnt to tell the darker ones apart, so I know who is who now by little markings on the head etc. The yellow ones though, no idea who is who hehe. They are stinky little balls of fluff that love to poo all day, but I am happy to...

    Incubating Muscovy Eggs Progress

That's exactly why I wanted to keep two, I've seen them all huddle together and can tell they don't like to be alone or too far away from one another. I think for now i'll just keep them here with me, and decide what to do when they're a bit older. I might keep three, and give my parents two...

    Incubating Muscovy Eggs Progress

The rest of the babies have made it! All 5 babies have entered the world Super happy and proud of them all. I'm also glad my cheap incubator did the job, everything went perfectly, I had no major issues (apart from the humidity) and the bator stayed strong for the whole 5 weeks. Pretty good for...

Thankyou everyone! The little weak chick finally pulled through lastnight and hatched. I also have 3 external pips from the other eggs now, so hopefully within the next couple days...

    Incubating Muscovy Eggs Progress

    Incubating Muscovy Eggs Progress

We have 2 external pips, this pip in the photo is from an egg that was the furthest behind! I don't even understand how he's pipped, he wasn't even internally pipped this morning. So it was a surprise to see so much shell broken off from this one! I can't see much movement in the eggs, I would...

    Incubating Muscovy Eggs Progress

I spoke too soon!! Day 32 today, and we officially have an internal pip! I repeat, an internal pip!!! It's the egg that was further along than the rest, at first when I candled him I didn't see anything, maybe I didn't check properly... and then while I was checking another egg, I suddenly heard...

    Incubating Muscovy Eggs Progress

Just the 5 I bought 6 to begin with, but one quit at day 2 or 3. I'm going to be busy for the rest of the week, I'm betting they will hatch when I'm not home. How long can the babies stay in the bator for after hatch? mines very small...

    Incubating Muscovy Eggs Progress

Day 31 today, All eggs are on the hatcher tray, lockdown is tomorrow, but I think I will just wait until I see some internal pips first before I lockdown. All air cells look like a great size now, I'm super happy that they grew, although I added in a tiny bit of water today, just so the air...

    Incubating Muscovy Eggs Progress

Should I take them out of the turner tray now then? and let them rest and get into position? some of the eggs have that big "dip" mentioned in that guide. And it says they no longer need to be turned once that happens.
