I just need some confirmation.
Is a 7/12 roof pitch fine? It will be a metal roof.
(This will be the main section of a Woods-style like coop)
I keep coming across 3/12 or 4/12 minimums, but are there any serious negatives to something higher?
I do live where there is snow and wind.

So I'm hoping to build a new coop this spring and I'm feeling very unsure about the water situation. There are so many designs out there but I really want something that caters to my specific needs, and I can't always determine if a design will be suitable.
Must accommodate:
25-50 chickens
long...
Brought my Speckled Sussex inside.
She's currently in the bathtub, I found her laying under the roosts, very little response. She opens her eyes and then shuts them again.
I'm only keeping one, and since I haven't noticed any distinctive behavior to help make the choice, I figured I'd go by looks instead. But I have no idea what to look for.
Anyone want to offer their opinion on who's the most handsome of the bunch? :)
They're 22 weeks old
Thanks in advance...
Updated picture:
Anyone have some ideas on this? I know it's hard to see in the images, but the left breast looks compressed compared to the right.
The backstory:
This hen along with her Barnvelder counter part, rarely leave the coop. I assume this is mostly because of flock dynamics, as...
While butchering our chickens (did 7 that day) one of them had a dark brownish liquid sac on the skin on the chest. It was large enough that the sac was punctured and leaked (which was washed off thoroughly of course).
Anyone know what this could be? All my searching could not come up with an...
Is there a way that I can tell the best way to cook my butchered chickens?
This is my first flock and I'm raising dual purpose chickens that I ordered straight run and will be butchering the extra roos. Because all breeds are different I can't go by age alone so I'm wondering if there are any...
Ok, last set (for today)
Thank you for indulging me :)
The differences are obvious; I think I just want confirmation that the pullets aren't just slow to mature roos in disguise.
I'm going to be keeping one of those roosters, I think they're gorgeous :)

First flock, would love some experienced eyes. I apologize if the photos aren't very good; I have a lot of chickens and it was difficult to grab a clear shot of each.
Thank you!

So my chicks are just getting too rowdy and crowded for their brooder and I'd like to move them to the coop. The coop I'll be using isn't complete yet. I have another coop that I can transfer them too but it has no power.
The deets:
This is my first flock
Chicks are 3 weeks old
There are 30...
I'm looking for some reassurance or advice!!
I picked up my chicks today, so of course it's going to drop down to 3 tonight (36 F).
I've read lots about the MHP but I couldn't seem to find anything about indicators that would let you know it was enough heat for the chicks (peeping?). I'm...
Getting ready to order my first birds
The plan is for 26 (straight run) in late March and if all goes well another 26 (sr) around late June.
One breed per order.
I've narrowed my breeds down to:
Plymouth Rock (Barred)
Australorp (Black)
Wyandotte (Golden Laced)
Chantecler (White)...
Thought I'd go through the introduction part!
I'm currently overwintering 4 hens for a friend but will be getting my own in March/April.
My "backyard" is 63 acres, half of which is fields/house/barns and the other half is mixed wetland, forest and and limestone outcrop. Just moved in 3...
