    Show off your baby chicks!

We're in the same predicament. I thought 6 weeks sounded like plenty of time, but now they're nearly 8 weeks, and it's still not finished It is getting close though. I'm hoping this weekend it'll be close enough to move them outside.

    Silkie thread!

Yes, I think she was 4 or 5 weeks in this pic. She's almost 7 weeks now, and it hasn't changed. These are my first chickens, so maybe I'll be surprised and she'll start sprouting some feathers, but I'm ok either way. She's more or less a pet, and her little raptor face is endearing

    Bantam Easter Eggers Pics

So, originally my plan was to keep a couple beautiful roosters and get rid of the rest. This guy looks like he'll be a plain Jane Brown EE, but I completely fell in love with his personality! He loves people, isn't at all aggressive (so far, anyway), and is very inquisitive. Plain brown or...

Need Help and Tips on how to Sex my Polish and Silkies

I'm TOTALLY and completely an amateur at this, but I'd guess that the two gold laced polish are roosters and the last pic of the white crested black polish is a female.

    Devastated

I'm new to chickens, but I've had a group of chicks for alost six weeks now. My very favorite chick was a little Porcelain D'uccle named Isla. She was so friendly. She'd sit on my shoulder or let me rub her belly without any complaint. She was the first to cock that head and peer up at me...

    Show off your baby chicks!

This Bantam EE is so precious! I originally named her Bunny because I thought it'd be a cute name for a white chick, but now every time I look at her face, she reminds me of a little dragon. I'm thinking about naming her Dracarys after Game Of Thrones

    Show off your baby chicks!

Sooo, I can't figure out how to load more than one picture per post, but I can't resist uploading some of my new babies. This is Charlie. She's a golden laced polish and by far the largest chick we have. She's a friendly little thing that likes to be held and always clocks her head to peek up...

    Is this baby lavender?

Adam, the one on the right is the closest in color I've seen to mine. Such cute little ones! I'm going to just assume she's blue though since it seems genetically unlikely that she's lavender.

    Is this baby lavender?

I honestly know nothing about the genetics behind lavender, just that its not common. I assumed it was a dilute like blue? I will be thrilled if she turns out blue too. It'll be interesting to watch the progression as she grows.

Just got this little one yesterday, and I'm trying to decide what color he/she is. Whatever it is, it's beautiful! Splash? Lavender maybe?
