Ok, I have never had this happen and I pray to God none of my 4 dogs ever get to my chickens but I have been told by MANY old timers that if you take one of the chickens your dog killed and tie it to the dogs neck for a day or two it will break them. I don't know if this is true or if it works...
Chicken pants (no joke) and a pink tank top with pink shoes. My chicken pants were a mother's day gift and they are bright yellow with blue and green polka dot chickens on them. They are my favorite lounging pants and my family makes fun of me to no end!
My husband and I are farmers; that is what we do and who we are we do not work off the farm. My husband has been saying for years that it will take hunger for things to change. When our grocery store shelves are empty or it costs the consumer $20 for a box of cereal and $15 for a gallon of milk...
My son finished taking his finals and moved home for the summer. He is 19 and I know he will not be coming home for too much longer so I am happy and thankful he is with me for a few months.
As the wife of an extremely inconsiderate and disprectful (but loving) arse here is my two cents. You really do have options here and I, now I am saying I, would either go with him and just shut up about it and have a good time and let him do his thing while you are there OR I would plan the...
I would not paint anything the chickens can come in contact with. My 5 hens started peeling the paint of the outside of their coop in their run. I had to put tin on the side of my building to keep them from ingesting it and tearing up the wood. If they have access to it in their coop I would...
That's great! I already knew the numbers and have spent many years advocating outdoor shooting sports for women and doing alot of my hunting myself. I haven't been in the field for a few years because I have been spending my energy in other endeavors but I know I was spending so much on permits...

Ooooh, maybe with the infrared heat lamp I could set up a camera and catch it on film! It was kind of "hazy" in there but I just figured they had been in their dirt bath.......
I am treating my 5 hens for scaly leg mites and every time I am around them I "itch" and feel like things are crawling on me. I am taking 2 showers a day to make myself feel better but it doesn't help. I know there is nothing on me as I had my mom check me out on Tuesday and there are no...
I wonder if I could get her to come to my house and teach my how to fry chicken? I am told I am one of the best cooks ever and can cook almost anything but I can't fry chicken to save my life!
Ok, this is just getting wierder. (More wierd?) Anyway I went back out there and checked the outside run just to make sure nothing was messing with the door trying to get in. Then I went inside the chicken house and turned on the lights. They were a little quieter until I turned on the lights...
Last night was their first night without the heat lamp and they didn't have a problem. I last checked on them about 11:30pm and then again around 4am and they were silent. I guess I could rig up a night light or just turn their heat lamp back on and raise it up a bit so it is not so hot in there.
