    What Breed?

I found this pic on the internet with no explanation as to the breed. I think they are beautiful birds. Anyone know the breed?

Three day old chick with little bit of "umbilical" tissue sticking out??

The little chick is fine now. She/he is running around and growing just like her hatch mates.

Good leg has a swollen toe!

The toe looks like it may be infected. Maybe she poked something in it? In the pic there is something dark brown sticking out of the toe next to the toe nail. What is that?

Quail lost leg and broke wing! *Graphic images*

Definitely raccoon tracks. I don't know what kind of fencing you have but know that chicken wire is made to keep chickens in, not to keep predators out. Predators can rip through chicken wire very easily. As said already, 1/2" hardware cloth is best. Also if the cage is small and moveable...

Quail lost leg and broke wing! *Graphic images*

I'm sorry you have to put him down. It's tough to make that decision but I think you're doing the right thing for him.

Quail lost leg and broke wing! *Graphic images*

I'm so sorry about your quail. With only one good leg, he will have to use his wings to help balance and with one wing broken, the poor quail is really in a bad way. I don't mean this harsh, but if he were my quail, I would put him down. Sorry.

    FOX BITE??? HELP (graphic)

Neosporin is a great ointment for almost any wound. Slather it on pretty thick, then bandage it like you're doing and she should be healed up pretty quickly. Years ago I had a hen that got attacked by the neighbors dog and she had a wound almost identical to your hens except it was on her...

    SOS! What on earth?

I agree that some more details would help but this does look like dry chicken pox to me also. Her weakness could be because she is not eating and drinking. It is important that you get food and water in her or she will die. If she is not eating her chicken feed, then I would see if she will...

    What’s wrong with my chick!?

The only thing that I can see from your picture is that maybe her crop is sticking out a good bit. Perhaps she has sour crop or an impacted crop. I don't know if either of these conditions effects chickens as young as three months but I'd at least check it out. How long have you had these...

Three day old chick with little bit of "umbilical" tissue sticking out??

One of my three day old chicks had poopy butt so I was running warm water over her butt to soften the poop. During this process, she had a small bit of the "umbilical cord" hanging off way down low. I thought it was attached to feathers so I gently worked it off. After getting off what I...

    Pale Comb and Wattles???

Thanks for your post. His weight is fine so I assume he's getting enough food. They have free choice pellets 24/7. If it is anemic or a vitamin deficiency, is there something I can give him to help it?

Chicken caught in fencing, left with bad injury

Like others have posted, I too had a hen with a very large wound on her back/side/under the wing. Her skin was pulled off and muscles were exposed. I put Neosporin on the wound twice a day to keep it moist and help heal it. I also gave her long lasting Penicillin IM injections. She recovered...

    Pale Comb and Wattles???

Below are two pics of my rooster, one of his comb and wattles a normal red color and the other is what they look like now. He has been this way for several weeks now. He acts a little depressed but he is still eating and drinking and breeding hens, just with less energy. His poop looks normal...

    Cancer on Rooster's Comb???

Thanks to everyone for all the help. We will clean it up and pick at it to see if it is an infection of some kind and if we do not find any indication of an wound, then we will remove that portion of his comb. Yes, both of his ear lobes have always been that white'ish color. I will post back...

    Cancer on Rooster's Comb???

My frizzle rooster has a large hard knot on the back end of his comb that I wonder if it is cancer. Below are pics of it. Do y'all think it needs to be removed? It doesn't seem to bother him. Thanks!

    Is This Fowl Pox???

I am putting a triple antibiotic ointment on the places so I hope that is helping. Thanks for your help.

    Is This Fowl Pox???

Thanks! I hope she gets better too. She's one of our oldest hens and we'd like to keep her around a lot longer if possible.

    Is This Fowl Pox???

I agree with you that they are extremely puffy and resemble abscesses or tumors. Makes me want to stick a needle in one to see if anything is in it but I wouldn't dare. I did not realize there was more than one strain of pox virus. Are you sure about that? If yes, then that could explain how...

    Is This Fowl Pox???

Anybody have any thoughts on what this is on this hen’s face? I’m guessing a really bad case of fowl pox??? She has never been vaccinated for pox, but she has been exposed before. I don’t remember if she got pox sores when she was exposed but I do know for a fact that she was in the flock...

    Punctured Lung?

One of our four month old turkey hens was attacked by a fox last night. She ended up with a punctured "lung". I know birds have a different breathing system so I'm not sure exactly what got punctured other than it is something to do with her breathing. It kinda whistles when she breathes and...
