I've had a couple scissor beak birds. One didn't make it because I didn't know what I was doing, I didn't trim her beak and I fed her a mash, which made a wonderful mess. I eventually paid the vet to have her euthanized.... she was so sweet and adorable, but I just didn't know what to do for...

I'd start with antibiotics. Can't go wrong, at least I wouldn't think so. Trying to bump you to the top. Sorry I wasn't very helpful.

I hope someone pipes up. I have no idea. I would go with the wormer or some sort of antibiotic. I understand the peak egg laying season thing though... Buuuuut, could you maybe quarantine her? Just medicate her?

I work at a local farm supply store. The other day I found a very small RIR in with its brood mates, beak in the shavings, standing, asleep. I picked "him" up and put "him" in with a couple other sickly birds we had in the sick bay in the back. Today I noticed his eye had a white colored bubble...

I believe so! I just thought it was funny that they were showing a hen that looked like her as the breed standard Perhaps we could all get our very own cousins of Derp! xD What fun what fun! I'm glad she was so well behaved. She seems like an awesome little family member.

Hope you all had a Derp filled Turkey Day! ALSO! I got a hatchery catalog the other day...Can't remember....the cheap chicks one... ANYWAY the picture of the Salmon Faverolle hen looked just like Derp! Perhaps her coloring is the new standard? Made me want to order 20 right away. xD

Poor thing! Glad you jumped on that! I'm sorry about your friend. I've been to a couple funerals like that....they are much nicer than the typical funeral. I prefer them. Can't wait to see pics of your new lady.
