Our Japanese Pagoda Chicken House
My DH wanted a piece of art in his backyard and something that at first glance did not look as though it were a "chicken coop". He came up with the design and after tweeking it a few times designed a Japanese Pagoda Style Hen House.
The hen house attached to...

What a cute chick. I think he is a rooster and his name should be Stevie Wonder. I bet he has a beautiful singing voice. You must have had Stevie playing alot while he was incubating.
Well today is day 22 and I have 8 out of my 11 so far. Most just popped right out one needed help. He had pipped on Friday morn around 5 a.m. but then nothing. Today at 6:30 a.m. I helped and he was all tied up. His wing was up over his head and all you could see of him was a very small...
They should be ok. I have had a temp spike of 105 and still had a good hatch. You did the right thing in fixing it. The last week I check the temp probably 10 times a day. If the humidity drops the temp rises so I am always checking it.
Tomorrow is my "due date" I am hoping for the best...

Yeahhhh! Let us know how the hatch is coming along.
I had a nightmare that all my eggs died. Now I really can't wait until Friday when they should hatch. Aaaarghhhh.
The chick may have moved into a different position and in doing so made it appear to either made more room or to take up more room. The last few days they are usually moving into position so they may hatch. I have even seen eggs roll over during the attempt. I would still give it more time.
The chick should take up most of the egg and can make it impossible to candle the last few days of the incubation. I have had some eggs you could easily see the chick on the day it hatched and some you couldn't see at all until it hatched. Just give it time and if it isn't here by next...

We have 16 hens. He is only servicing the bantys and EE's. He seems to be terrified of the orps, doesn't even bat an eye at our austrolope or cochin. He really likes one of our older EE's. She seems to be missing many feathers off of her saddle area. The BLRW hen is his constant...

As I stop my laughing I need to let you know...I have never had potato salad with sweet pickles. I use only homemade dill pickles in my salad. I guess it is just where you are from. LOL
LOL missprissy...I saw the title and that you wrote it and wondered what in the world missprissy would need help on. After looking at the category you posted in I narrowed down your problem options. They were...
You were lost somewhere w/o GPS (but amazingly with a computer)
You were...
DH says down in French Guiana they would use ants as seasoning...they taste like lemon.
One of the smelliest but tasty things I have eaten recently was Kimchee. I believe you can smell that one in the next state. Oh and talk about clearing your sinuses...It may be the cure for the common...
We had one that was 46 weeks when she started to lay. She now is my best layer with at least one egg every day. I think she is trying to play catch up.
My DH has eaten some really bizarre things on his church mission. He has eaten beetles, cockroach, horse, tripe, conch and fish head soup. He just tried not to think about it too much but was really hungry. The horse he ate in France. The rest was down in the Carribbean and South America...
The easter bunny brought our first four chicks and two ducks. From there we just kept acquiring more.
Funny thing is my DH always wanted to be a farmer/rancher. I would laugh and tell him that I was a city girl. After we got our chickens, I have been doing everything in my power to speed up...
Ok...I just candled and have only 10 fertile eggs. I guess that our Sir Reginauld is making the rounds as well as we thought. 10 out of 39 eggs seems pretty low. But I can see definite movement in most of those eggs.
Only 8 days left.
I wonder what they will look like. The father is a BLRW...
I have put 39 eggs from my own flock in to the bator. They should hatch on the 27th. I am not expecting a high hatch rate since my roo is still quite young (7 1/2 months) He does like the girls though.
Does anyone else have eggs due around that time?
