I will keep one male and find homes for the two others or I will see if I can build a smaller coop + run for them. I think I still have a couple of months to decide and see how things go
Their mothers (two ducks: one white, one khaki) seemed like "true" campbells and were good layers, I think...
Oh, that's great! I'm pretty sure now that I have 3 females and 3 males. Mine are supposed to be khaki campbells, but I am seeing that the 2 brown girls have face stripes that are still there and the white girl has a black spot on her head (her name is "spot", haha). So they are surely mixed...
Yes, I checked and it only says niacin (nicotinamide, vit B3). All of the other brands said no-flush, this was the only one I could find that didn't put that on the label.
Hi everyone, I'm afraid one of my ducklings might have mild niacin defficiency. She looks clumsy and slower thant the rest, and tens to sit more often than the others. I am starting suplementing immediately. Hopefully, she will get better. Until now, they were eating some kind of expensive...
My ducklings just spend their first night outside. I think they were happy not to come inside to their brooder, it was already too small for them. They are 6 - 7 weeks old.
We were kind of reluctant to leave them outside, but they needed the space!! Their parents were killed by a fox 3 months...
It comes and goes, she quacks mostly when she is hungry or when she is looking for me. But she still peeps. She is exactly like her mom was. Same color, same personality.
Hi everyone, one of my 1-month old ducklings is definitively quacking!! so I am almost sure I have at least a girl. Now I need to wait for the 5 remaining ducklings. :ya
First day outside. It had been raining a lot, and today was kind of ok. They were outside for an hour only, because I was afraid they could get chilled. They were soooo happy, running around the pen. They are starting to grow feathers :)
When are they supposed to start quacking? My biggest duckling sounds a bit like she is starting quacking, but it is a very faint noise, in between the peeps. Hopefully it's a she!!
You can use the material on the picture below (sorry, I don't know the name in English, something like anti-slippery stuff) on top of the puppy pad. One off my ducklings was like that and was much better after putting this material.
It's so good that you can choose the sex of the ducklings. I have to wait and see, but I hope that at least 2-3 from my 6 ducklings are females. In any case, I will have to rehome extra drakes before they start fighting :idunno
I hope they send them soon. You were getting welsh harlequins, right?
I have been trying to find that breed in my area or someone that ships eggs with no luck. Seems that this breed is not very common in Spain.
Hey, Tookie, so nice to see your ducklings swimming! Mine haven't got a chance yet, because it's been rainy and cold. Maybe I will try in the bathtub with warm water.
My ducklings are groing incredibly fast, the barely fit in their current brooder. I need to find solution, maybe some kind of...
Can I join? I have 6 ducklings. They are the offspring of my khaki campbells that were killed by a fox.
It was a staggered hatch, the oldest are 10 days old, the youngest is 2 days old.
Already getting very messy!! I clean their plastic tub everyday, it is lines with a puppy pad. But I think I...
