holy smokes! This thread is usually slow. I miss a month or so of reading posts and there are pages and pages to catch up!!
Gonna go back and start where I left off...
It may be the wrong time of year. I waited months and months to get eggs from Tom. And had to get eggs shipped a couple times cuz the first batch didn't develop. I even had to have the eggs shipped in a live chick box in the hopes that they would fare better with the post office.
Just saying...
Here are a couple of my blue andalusians from Tom Roebuck growing up..
I am very happy with them. Every day I go outside and look at them and think "I can't believe I finally have these birds!". lol
I have two blue cockerels, two splash cockerels, two blue pullets and one black pullet...
Here are some pics of my blue andalusian chicks from Tom Roebuck. They are 6 weeks old and sooo cute!!!
I hatched 1 black, 2 splash and 4 blues. Nice mix of boys and girls too. These birds are going to work out very nicely for me.
My andalusian chicks are 3 weeks old. They are so cool looking. Totally different from my marans or ameraucanas. I thought I had 5 blue and 2 splash but I am thinking one of them might be black. I will wait and see.
I plan to move them outside soon. Love to watch chicks outside, the brooder...
Thanks!
My son is heading home from college, from Reno on tuesday. I was going to send him out to you to pick up eggs if these didn't hatch.
I am super happy with these guys. They are going to be really fun to watch grow up.
I have 7 chicks!! Two splash and 5 blue or black. Just cannot tell for sure. I think they are blue....
I ended up with 3 eggs that pipped at the wrong end and then did nothing for 24 hours so I thought they had died. Well two of them hatched!
I am just immensely happy with these chicks...
Well so far I have two chicks! I think they are blue. Hard to tell until they dry off. Two chicks pipped at the wrong end and then died. Never had that happen before.
I hope I get at least one male and one female...then I can make more! lol
I put 15 eggs in lockdown!! I almost forgot. Today is day 19. I have found the "set 'em and forget 'em" technique works the best. lol
I almost took that too far! No pips so I think we are ok. Hatch day is friday.
Oh gosh, I cannot even think about what I have spent in the last year and a half as I have been trying to collect the 3 breeds of chickens that I want to raise. If I added it up I would probably go into shock.
Good news!! I saw a vein last night!! Now if I can just not mess them up! lol
I just got 30+ eggs from Tom Roebuck (cochinman2005) and they look great!!
The first box of eggs I got from him were all scrambled in the mail I think. This time he sent them in a live chick box in the hopes that the post office would treat them better if the box was marked "live birds" and...
When I was corresponding with Butch I asked if he had any more pic of his birds that I could see and that was when correspondence stopped. I was so worried I had offended him by asking. Still not sure but I hope not.
I have never been to a show so not really sure when show season is but isn't...
Has anyone heard from him at all? I was corresponding with him when I began my quest for blue andalusians but then he stopped responding to emails. I too wanted to see more pictures of his birds. I even called his number on his site and left a message, and more emails a couple months later...
Me and shipped eggs have a long relationship...not always a productive relationship...lol
The first batch of eggs I got from Cochinman2005 I let rest for 24 hours, I incubated for 7 days with the egg turners off in an upright position. Not one vein developed. I think the egg yolks were blown...
