Thank you I appreciate the critique and yes I know she's a bit too young to show right now. The show isn't for a few months. She will be over five months when I do show her.

The show is more than 3 months away, so hopefully she'll fill out better by then. Thank you for the critique! Her crest is getting bigger and bigger everyday and I think once she fills out more her back will look shorter. I have another pullet filling out a bit nicer. She's a lot more typey...

Critiques? This is Morrocco, a 6 week old white Silkie. I'm taking her to the Ohio National and she will be up against some of the best silkies in the US, so no need to sugarcoat any opinions. *please note she is not completely conditioned or bathed and groomed

Light eyes are unfavorable. Some judges really care about eye color and some aren't very particular. I advise against showing birds in trios or displays. If your trio doesn't win first place as a trio then none of the birds (even if they are the best) can win BB, BV, champion of the class and...

They look pretty good. I don't see any DQs. Just make sure they have 5 toes. Having less or too many toes is a common DQ. The partridge hens look particularly good as far as type and crest fullness. The white ones' crests could be bigger and cover the comb area more. White silkies are the...

Yes, I crossed a blue with a buff once. I got one pure blue rooster and one that was blue with gold leakage. Both of them weren't ideal for showing but they were very pretty.

Thank you for your response! I was leaning toward breeding them with a black rooster. I think that'll probably darken their spots, too. I feel like paint x paint would lead to ones with more dilute spots. The black would have to be split for paint, though, right?

I have four pullets: 3 paint Silkies and a black split to paint. What would be the best color rooster to breed to these girls to get nice loud paints? Black or Paint?

If it's a local fair I wouldn't be that concerned. The main thing judges look at for the feet is the correct number of toes. The correct spacing is not as crucial. I think it's worth a shot and it's also a great experience even if you don't place. Also, if you're looking for a nice show...

What color chicks would I hatch if I had a blue silkie rooster over paint hens?

Thanks that helps a lot. I'll keep the porcelain and lavender silkies in a pen together to ensure I get nice chickens for breeding.

What colors could I hatch if they were in a pen together? I also have white and bbs silkies I could put them with. I was just wondering, as far as genetics, which pen would produce the nicest colored chicks?

I'm going to get some lavender and porcelain silkies soon. I usually stick to bbs silkies so this is new to me. How should I set up my breeding pens?

Has anyone ever purchased silkies from Geri Godina? I may be getting some chicks from her and I want to see what they'll look like in terms of quality. Please post pictures.

The silkie on the right is definitely a pullet. The other one looks like it could be a rooster, but I'm not positive. Some more pictures would help.

Thank you for responding! I see what you mean about Dream, my rooster, he is smaller, but he is still young and that will most likely improve with age. I am not that familiar with body type and posture and it would help if somebody would post pictures of a rooster with a good body type. Which...
