I have 5 males (possibly 6) out od my 6 barnyard mix chicks 😜 Fortunately, I had better luck with the Australorps and the silkies 😁 I don't think I will be keeping the silkies though. They are special care chicks and I don't like it 🤨
Yes, it hatched with no problems and looks good 🙂
To sum up the last lot, I had 10 eggs, 1 clear and 1 early quitter so 8 made it to lockdown and 8 hatched. I am sooo happy with the results. This one was difficult because of the issues with humidity (staggered hatch) but I managed and there were...
So have I! The older ones are in a different brooder. The little ones are to small and still tired. They also need to learn how to eat and drink properly. Plus the older ones are getting realy lively (and big).
Your baby chicks are so beautiful! The one with gray and gold is just stunning! What...
I'm having problems with the last egg. The chick has pipped internally but nothing since. I can hear it's trying but no pip in the shell. Everybody else is out now and that is worying. I did a safety hole about 5-6 hrs ago so i think I'm going to wait a bit longer and then open the egg from the...
My little penguins are so adorable ❤️
5 have hatched so far, including both eggs that were pipped from the other end. No problems, i just waited and they managed. I checked the shells and it looks like one of the chicks had hit a vessel but there was only a minor bleeding so we were lucky. This...
I am such a pessimist when it comes to eggs and excess fluid, sorry 🙈
Did you pick up the egg and there was no activity, chirping or anything? Or just the egg "hasn't done" anything since when you discovered the pip?
I also have 2 pips - surprisingly its the pointed egg that I didn't expect to hatch and the smallest egg (49g only) that is also very narrow. So perhaps not enough room to turn properly at some point because those pips are from the wrong ends. So, having im mind, that such a pip is like a double...
My battle with air cells is won 💪💪💪 the first lines of the cells are from 3 days ago so i had to act quickly.
The eggs were really waxy. Staggered hatch didn't help either. But they are ready now
🙂 appart from the pointy egg which i don't count on anyway. Water added. 1 internal pip. Here we...
You know, there is usually a reason why they don't hatch. Just in case something goes wrong... Still, so difficult to leave them with no help. But with hindsight, I regret I assisted my silkie because i had to cull her later on and it was really tough to do.
Oh, hang on there... It is so tough... If you want to intervene open the egg from the air cell only. Mark where it is and don't go over this line. Do not touch the inner membrane (covering the chick) before you check the situation with blood vessels there. Is it doing this eating-like movements...
