I am still here, although I am working a lot so not posting as much. I can't remember what her cross was, actually - I *think* I had speckled sussex then so she might be crossed there x EE. She is still with me, but has lost an eye and sits around a lot, so she now has the name 'loaf'. :)
Here's another 'boy' pic for comparison purposes - yes, he has a naked neck, but he's 3/4 EE from Americauna roo X EE/NN pullet. Pea comb, green legs. Good example of 'red coming in on the wings' and he's only four weeks old. =)
I have two 'olive egger' NN's with straight combs that lay olive eggs. Shocked the you know what outta me as I thought they would lay brown eggs with that comb. (and I saw one of them lay one, so I KNOW it was her egg)..
Some of my pea combed EE mixes lay brown eggs. Other than that, out of...
I *think* he is an ameraucana, actually, but since I am not 'sure' I play it safe and call him EE. THe person who sold me the eggs (from byc) did say she had white ams. But I don't show birds so it's all the same to me. :)
He's not all that shiny yet, but he's still pretty young - 17 weeks or...
They mostly all look like girls to me. I have a girl that looks JUST like racing stripe and she is laying eggs now. :) Penny's comb is a bit red so I'd keep an eye out for any other roo type features, but there's no red coming out anywhere that I can see.. I have a solid color white roo that...
Yah, I have a few roos that get them early but right now I have hmm.. three extra roosters in my coop and none have saddles yet. They are 12-13 weeks old. I can still tell they are boys due to coloring however. :)
Remember this guy from way back on this thread? He was about 10-11 weeks here...
I think it's a roo. 11 weeks, right? Too young for saddles really - I have 11 week old roos and they aren't even that red in the comb and haven't gotten their saddles in yet either. Part the feathers on the rear and see if you see any shinies coming in. :)
Heh, I didn't even look at donna's pic. Now I had better go look! :)
My EE/Americauna (not sure which, but he's all white and has blue legs, not green - his egg was marked W.Am, but you know how that goes) is JUST now starting to crow and he's almost 6 months old. It's a little squeak! :)
My all-white EE STILL hasn't crowed yet and he's umm.. 16 weeks? I have to check. Definitely a boy tho, saddle feathers and all. Will put up a pic later if I can, but they are all on predator lockdown at the moment. I like late bloomer roosters, I think they end up being nicer.
Aww, why no solid white EE images? :) :) They are so pretty! =)
(just a hint, this is a young cockerel.. and yes, I am sure - they can fool ya this young!)
It's a pretty good bet that a three rowed pink/red comb on an EE at 9-10 weeks is a boy, even if there's no red coming in anywhere on the wing/shoulders, correct? I have one all-white EE (could also be white americauna as the eggs were from a byc'er that has both) that I am assuming is a boy...
