It is kind of purple It's either red and black or red and blue. And I know it's possible, it's just very unlikely. I hatched a silkie-feathered chick from my straight-feathered Serama a few months ago so I know it's possible

At 1 week they are twice as big as they were at hatch. At 2 weeks they are 3 times as big as they were at hatch. At 3 weeks they are 4 times bigger than they were at hatch. At 5 weeks they are half again (4 1/2) bigger than they were at hatch. After 5 weeks they get a little bigger but not much...

Mine are always in the house when they are in brooder stage unless they are hen-hatched. I still don't see them all that much I also hatch year-round but I limit myself to certain species. For example, I don't hatch ducks if it's really cold because they do stink it up if you can't kick them...

They don't look like any Japanese I've ever seen. Probably mixed with OEGB. They don't look to have the right body type for Japanese, but they don't for OEGB either. The roo should be black but has color leakage; he appears to be a PQ OEGB.

I'm tempted, but I'm seriously considering selling my japs. They are nice, but the rooster's short legs makes it near impossible for him to breed, so they aren't doing me any good.

They don't have to be your birds, some people have traded eggs they bought from other BYC members or people on Ebay. Pictures are nice but I don't think they're a requirement.
