Wolftracks,
I am not very good at online stuff, I don't ever remember seeing breeder listings on the JBBA site.
I have the members list here on my desk.
PM me if you would like me to look for someone close to you.
I will also be at the Delmarva show end of month, I can ask around for you, too...
Socks is probably a cross with another bantam with feather legs.
Maybe not directly, but an older relative.
I recently got hatching eggs, and hatched out some really nice birds, but one has a little fuzz where there shouldn't be.
This is the reason you should try to breed true.
Generations...
Bird sitter, if you are looking to be on champion row next show you are at, then listen to NYREDS.
If you want some fun little birds, it's up to you.
Anyone serious enough to take criticism that wants to better the breed, and have great birds, should purchase a copy of the APA or ABA standard...
Henny, figure them to be around the same size as a wet Silkie.
Except these guys can fly well.
The only two issues I have had with mine, is first, some of my boys with big combs have gotten frostbite on the tips in the really miserable winters.
That can be handled a few different ways.
And...
I see it happen with all the other breeds, too.
People breed willy nilly colors together, and years later, other people wonder why they can't get these flaws bred out of their flock.
Sure, there are some fun ones out there, I have a few myself.
But they will not be sold. If given away, I tell...
Jak, I have a few extra Mottled boys I have no use for. Just too many.
I'm on Long Island, NY. I don't ship, but do travel the east coast if you're interested.
Roberta
I'll have a few Mottled cockerels at the Sussex NJ show tomorrow for sale if anyone is interested.
I just have too many. ABA banded, but not SQ.
Nice short legs!
Don't worry about the Japs... The Marans will be the deal breaker with the crowing.
I have a beautiful roo from Marquisella, that needs to go because of his crowing.
He competes with my avatar, and it is not very pretty in the noise dept.
The japs are very pleasant to listen to, as their little...
It all depends on whether you are going to show, or breed SQ birds.
It's alot of work... Go look at the SOP that was posted a few pages back.
Go to shows, and talk to people.
The biggest issues Japs have is the leg length.
You have to do what is right for you.
You could have the most beautiful...
I have my Japs in with my Marans. No problems.
Cold.... The biggest issue we have here is the combs freezing. I have quite a few strange looking boys.
All missing points.
I have gotten Japs from both Ideal, and Cackle hatcheries.
As long as you aren't showing them, you'll be fine,
The biggest...
If you want a Show Quality bird, I am assuming you want to show.
You simply MUST purchase an SOP.
The ABA has that book, and a membership special package....

This is for if you want to be cheap... you can purchase separate pages.
I am not sure if...
I have a beautiful (well, I think so) Black roo I show alot. He has long legs, and has never had a DQ.
Or even had his tag marked for legs. Maybe the judges just feel sorry for me.
Somewhere here I have posted his pic... need to go find it.
