French frogs

Good morning!

I'll admit it. I miss SC!

Walnut, if you get a chance, will you please take/post some close up pics of those trays on the brooder you're building?

Sure thing. I'm leaving in a few and won't be back until 11 p.m. or so, so it may need to wait until tomorrow. Essentially though it is just full length front and back rails, with 4 rails front to back to keep it stiff. I just predrilled and countersunk for the screw heads and used 3" deck screws to hold them together. I then took a couple of scraps of the 2 x 2 and made runners and screwed them into the case sides. To keep the tray design strong and simple I put the brooder uprights on the outside of the case rather than the inside. That way the trays can be perfect rectangles.

So my local eggs and one of my shipped eggs hatched fine Saturday (day 20) Last night and this morning (day 21-22) three of my shipped eggs hatched with only partially absorbed yolk sacs, ranging from the size of a pea to the worst one that's the size of a nickel. Covered the sac with triple antibiotic ointment and popped them in small coffee cups with warm damp paper towels.

Any other words of wisdom?

I was so surprised since everyone else hatched out fine, and they weren't assisted. Hope they make it, but not sure about the worst one. They are all pretty active though.

BCM's are my least favorite, lol...

Pain meds do the same to me... I think it's the relief from the pain, something makes you want to enjoy being pain free instead of sleeping during that time... ;)

Pain meds make me tired....especially morphine.....but they don't make me sleep or I wouldn't be posting at all hours of the night. They have me prescribed to take 5 tabs a day...which when I do does really knock the pain down but I nod off all day long do I don't take that much. Pain sucks....so do pain pills.....but we do what we must to keep moving. That's why I'm glad I found all you people. Makes my days go better.
WWE rarely ever do it. So it nice when we can take a road trip and go somewhere we have never been. Next trip Disney World!!

I'm happy for all you who get to go on tripod. I seriously never took a"real" vacation on my life. Mostly I've always spent my vacation days going on medical related trips to the mayo clinic....but we would stop at the mall of America. And before I was sick I would use yo my leave deer hunting. But these days my wife is a total homebody...I can barely get her to go visit the kids.
Good morning Ross! Ya know, I've never been to Disney World....

I went there in 1975. I was 11...was the coolest place I've ever seen.

So some good, some not so good. Better than all bad!

Are they still in the bator or in the brooder? Only thing I would mention is be careful that the paper towels don't get too warm or too cold. I'm not a big fan of damp towels.

and congrats too!

I've never been do Disney World but since I lived in SoCal most of my life, we went to Disneyland a couple of times a year. Always so much fun.

I have 8 in the brooder running around like cute little crazies, and the three in the incubator in the cups. (I had to take the tray out so they could fit, with humidity up at 75% for a while to keep them moist.) Since they hatched this morning, I don't really care if it takes them longer to fluff up. A few others were DIS, and have been tossed.

Thought the paper towels would be softer than the bottom of a coffee cup. Think I should take them out?

I'd think they are fine inside the bator. I was thinking in the brooder it might be harder to regulate the temp. Post some pics of the crazies when you get a chance

Since you asked, LOL. One BWA and one EE/Orloff at the top, the rest are my Orloffs.
400

Two shipped Orloffs not looking good in the ICU, the BWA should be fine and I'll probably put it in the brooder this evening.

Awesome! They all look so different, I love that!

Looks like this turned out to be a little better hatch than you were thinking.
