i am jealous of all the lavenders on here... it is one I am thinking of finding eggs for. Would love to have one or two in my flock. Well found that another one of my silkies is finally laying,.. I have 3 hens now, but one is not a layer... too old or brain damaged or something. My black has been laying for a while, but my white is about 6 months so think it might be her. Pretty sure my splash is a roo.

anyway- yeah! Now hopefully all goes well in a few weeks when we integrate them back in with the flock with their own little mini coop.

Had a roast chicken last night so off to make chicken soup with the remainders. Yummy, one meal my kids cant complain about is home made chicken noodle soup. Darn picky husbands and kids. I used to have 2 five year olds that ate anything and then they turned 5.5 and it changed... my son has decided that he really doesnt like most food now. great:(

Dh called me a little while ago. Seems he forgot to tell me something yesterday. He was talking to some of his church friends and one of the was looking for someone to go in on a miniature turkey order. So we're getting 5. Now I have to make room

It seems the gal that Bf4 got the eggs from didn't believe black chicks came from her lav orp eggs.

Ok stupid question ....... Are the lavender chickens everyone is talking about a special breed ? Are the chickens really lavender color when their big or is it just a name? I tried googling but all the chicken images looked greyish.

Hi!  No Appyl--that is the color they are...pretty grey!  I have BLUE chickens and they look grey to me!  I think Lavender is just a lighter blue?  Maybe more "pewter!"  Yeah...go with that!

Thanks for the offer of chicks BFam but the OTHER Heather is giving me the modern games. (Tiki the chicks look black...she has them pictured in her post from yesterday--but they are Birchen banty MGs) to keep Eli company...sadly I heard nothing from the bator when I got home from work today....I was so hoping for at least a pip!  So I am waiting again to see if anything happens...right now I am watching "chick TV" little Eli is trying SO HARD to stay awake!  He is standing and looking at his toes and then s l o w l y falling asleep! He hasnt fallen oover yet because I keep laughing and them he wakes up! THe dog keeps barking from the back room too--she rolled in something this mrning and when I got in my whole kitchen (where her kennel is) smelled like DEAD STUFF!  So now she is in the back room and barking to be let out...NOPE! Not a chance until I feel like giving her a bath!

Just got a phone call and my friend is stopping by...she will love to see the new chick!  Girding myself for an hour of listening to her talk..... She is sweet but takes a while to get to the point!

Did that get anyone's attention?! The woman that I bought the LO eggs from is replacing them because of CCs blacks. I am sure I do NOT need so many chickens! Just putting it out there that it is a very good possibility I'll have extras coming up.
