JUST FOR FUN (not a partridge project breeder)
Just sharing some photos of my silkie/silkie mix chicks that are partridge-ish for fun as babies and some as adults at the end.
One of these is a blue cream (lavender base), but the cream/gold is maybe still partridge. (See the first picture, 3rd picture, and last picture for the one I think is “lavender partridge”)
There was also one that started out mostly black and then ended up growing into something somewhat partridge-like. (Second and 3rd to last)
The rest are blue and black bases on lighter chick down.
I produced these out of my silkie and part silkie hens, and the roosters that are the fathers are a full silkie and half silkie. (I have a quarter silkie roo, too, but he’s lowest in the packing order and I don’t think he’s the father.) Some of the chicks had silkied feathers that I sold, and I’ll share the pictures the chicks’ new owners sent me, as well, so you can see them as older pullers/cockerels (disclaimer - they are blurry).
Some are hard feathered and some you can barely see the silkie in them. Most of the ones from my full silkie hen look almost full silkie and lean toward silkie feathered even if they’re from the half silkie roo.
I think the half silkie roo is birchen, but he has patterning/lacing too and seems to produce partridge chicks.
A lot of them have chick down that looks like they’ll be mottled or spangled but then they grow into partridge looking birds. I do have one bird from one of the clutches (not pictured here) who is black with mottling FYI on an unrelated note. I think she’s just a carrier though.
And I will post photos as they develop. Both my hens and 2 of my Roos are split to lavender. I want another lavender one because I gave that one away.
