Second best thing about being retired is that I don't have to drive until the roads are clear.
One of the reasons why I love my job, even though I could get paid better elsewhere, is that they let me flex my 30 hours a week however I want.

When fate intervened and gave me a chance at early retirement that's the sort of schedule I tried to achieve. My department manager was 100% for it - her response to my suggestion was: "Yes, I like it. Just like always you will get your job done." Upper management lacked foresight so I retired. First best thing about being retired is/was that I no longer have to try to find people who are willing to WORK for a living. :p

There is at least one benefit of working for a privately owned small company. There is only one more level above my manager that cares at all HOW product is moved out the door and he is more than willing to have PT employees. There are a lot of us there. They've brought back several former employees that retired but wanted to work part time. It really does make things more productive.

Good morning and thanks for the hot coffee! -14 F was our low yesterday when I had to take my friend to a couple of doc appts. She asked me if she should cancel and I said that it was looking like the best day to go...
We lost power for about 5 hours last night (-4 F) for no particular reason.
It is 7F this morning with the breezes increasing. 3 days of 60+/- mph winds
and the driveway already looks a bit closed. I love my wood stove!
I am very glad that you had a great time, Sour!
Stay safe and warm, Cafe!

I just tossed in the towel in my attempt to go to work.

I got to the bottom of the hill and turned left onto the state route. It had been plowed and sanded but had a little slush on the road. Not bad at all and I still spun out. I immediately turned into the gas station, texted my manager that I was shifting my schedule for the week then got back up the hill before things got even worse. I'm NOT doing that crap again. If it snows, I'm just plain and simply not going anywhere until the roads are properly cleared.
Smart plan.
