Faverolles Breed Discussion

I was told faverolles are considered a rare breed. I just recently purchased two salmon faverolle girls (pics below).

How rare are they? I'd consider breeding them if they are a rare breed. I also want to show one of them. I'm thinking April because she's larger and has a better stance and a better temperament (Tot is a little diva).

They're rare in that there aren't a lot of breeders that have stock that's true to breed working with them and breeding them to the SOP. Where did you get yours? If from a hatchery unfortunately they probably aren't really true to breed and wouldn't be very good for breeding to keep the breed going. You'd be better off getting good stock from an established breeder if you'd like to breed them. I know you said you want to show them, but unfortunately they probably won't do very well, for the same reasons stated above

You'd have to compare them to their breed standard, which you can find in the APA Standard of Perfection. You can buy it at the APA's website. As Pyxis stated, if your chicks are from a hatchery they likely will not be good to enter in an APA sanctioned show.
