This is a Meyer buff brahma, from getting her in the mail last July until this morning.:)

I'm planning to get some light brahma chicks. Have any of you had experience with Meyer, McMurray or Cackle hatcheries? Thanks for the feedback. They don't have to be show birds, but I would like them to be pretty.
we got a dark brahma from Murray mcMurray last year- she is doing very well and is very relaxed. Not as big as I expected but not tiny either.

Here's another pic. My first Brahma, Rocky. I posted him on the Brahma thread a few years ago and was horrified at all the faults that were pointed out on him. I think he's beautiful, anyway! Now, he's an old man, crippled with arthritis, and is living out the rest of his life in his own private coop and run.
Chicken snobs crack me up. No yoke! ;). He's very handsome!

OMG-this is amazing! I would love have this kind of set up! I can't believe they don't poop all over-so great.

They both seem to be housebroken, going to the front door and cackling to be let out. None of our other chickens are, though, so only Frack and Blackie get to come in for extended visits. Blackie even tried to go broody in the living room, but we successfully transferred her to an unused coop where she hatched her 6 chicks.

Frack did go broody in the kitchen about 3 or 4 years ago. It was so neat watching her parade her chicks through the living room to the front door every morning and then back inside every evening. She's one in a million! This was the only time she ever was broody.

My 6-month-old birds are almost fully-feathered in now (I'm not feeling feather sheathes while petting them anymore), and I'm amazed at how dense the two Dark Brahmas' feathers are.

The Delawares' feathers are firm, hard, and smooth. The Brahmas' have an amazing, fluffy resiliency that is an open invitation to snuggle them. Sort of like one of those extra-expensive pillows that has a firm, support core with a soft layer on top.

Fortunately Noodle seems to like it when I work my fingers down under the feathers at the base of her neck.
