Good morning Cafe. We had a rain drizzle .. not enough still get to water.
One rat in the trap in the garage .. Setting a bunch of traps bird seed in the garden traps
later for tonight.

My 3+yo wood chippings pile is about worthless, mostly broken down with roots and vines growing thru it.
Really need to find some fresher chips before winter.

I have some! Lots!
We also now have a critter trap and will bait that #$%^& in. I am thinking canned cat food... DH and I got a few loads of firewood delivered today. The rain has held off and is going around us.
DL, how is your DH feeling? I hope better!

...aaaannnnd I found some!!
Same guy who has supplied me a few times over the years.
I have to go get them, rig the van as a pickup truck, but should do for winter prep.

I still haven't turned on the furnace. Supposed to be sunny and hit high 60's the next 4 days. I'll wait as long as possible, probably won't be too long.

It's a challenge (game?) to me to keep the furnace off as long as possible. It doesn't take much of a fire in the woodstove to keep the house warm this time of year. I'm aiming for November 1, or later, for the "burnt dust" smell, when the furnace comes on for the first time. We'll see how we do.

We didn't get frost last night, as the clouds stuck around. But the sky is clear now, so it'll probably happen tonight. If I need to, I'll toss some logs on the fire in one of my 3-4 bathroom trips tonight.

Score on the wood chips @aart. We have been fortunate bought 4 cords again same kid last couple years.

Yeah, but no wood fire heat here.

I kinda like that smell too, it's a comfort because you know you'll be warm.
