california - CENTRAL COAST

Hello!! Atascadero chicken farmer over here! What breeds do you have at your place?
Oh boy ... I’ve got:
2 Rhode Island Reds (Hattie and Eloise)
2 Buff Orpingtons (Gretchen and Gerard)
2 Silver Laced Wyandottes (Agatha and Maisie)
2 Silver Laced Polish (Sylvia and Dinah)
2 Barred Rocks (Alice and Junie)
2 Olive Eggers - Cream Legbar/Cuckoo Marans crosses (Zinnia and Eddie)
3 Easter Eggers (Beatrix, Viola, Holly)
1 Buckeye (CiCi)
1 American Game Hen (Larke)
1 Serama/Leghorn bantam cross (Rori)
7 American Game/Bantam crosses (Poe, Dahlia, Tansy, Frodo, Samwise, Meriadoc, Pippin)
1 Guinea Fowl (Vic Vic)

I know. It’s a zoo 😂. The vast majority of my girls are in the main coop/run with Rori the itty bitty roo (his size makes him the safest option for some of my smaller girls in there). Eddie and Gerard are in their own enclosures within the coop/run. Poe, Dahlia, and Tansy are also in an add on. Vic Vic has his own space, too (because despite being a sweetie, his Guinea behavior is not appreciated by the chickens (but his space is connected to theirs so he’s not alone)). The Hobbits (remaining bantam cross roo brothers) are in a bachelor pad on my family’s property across the street. They get along remarkably well (knock on wood). If I had an endless supply of money, I’m sure I’d have an endless supply of chickens 😅.

I also live in Central California on the coast but just north of San Francisco in Marin County in a small town called Bolinas here on the edge of the earth. I have 16 hens and one roo. Down to two cats and presently no dogs.

Yeah! Welcome to our thread! I love Santa cruz - I've been wanting to plan a little trip there one of these days! We use to camp in Felton every summer and take the train to the boardwalk
