Really do love this breed now. Still wishing I could have gone with Sumatra for my long tail Ameraucana project but the temperament was just not what I was going to want for that. The Phoenix have done well with being mild to people and other roosters.

He is super gorgeous. Very sprightly fellow.

Bantam pair. The hen is from 2015 and the cockerel is from 2023. She seems to really like him.
The cockerel is double dun, ie Khaki on Er/Ewh. Thankfully he has pearl legs. All the offspring should be dun.

The main ingredient in Cubalaya is not Sumatra, but rather what used to be more of a feathery Malay type, I'm not saying that Sumatra has never been added, I'm just saying there is very little Sumatra in most Cubalaya.

Interesting. To my inexperienced eyes Sumatra and Cubalaya look nearly identical in many ways. I always assumed that Sumatra was the dinosaur Cubalaya
