I wanted to build an E-Z Frame coop, but after 6 weeks of delays and excuses I cancelled the order and built the coop using standard "stick-built" techniques. It took me extra time, but not really, since I waited for 6 weeks for the brackets. They just kept putting me off, saying "it will ship next week". :(
I was at home Depot the other day and they were selling kits similar to the ezframe. Flat roof instead of peaked and heavy metal connectors for 4x4's. Probably a lot more expensive but they certainly look like they'd build strong and easy.

That would be for the "Gulf Coast Model" chicken coup, built to withstand a Category I hurricane. :p

Made more progress last night and today! Hoping to get the bulk of it finished by end of the day 🤞🏻

Tried to level the coop, built the run, and fashioned the ramps from scraps, sprayed it with Flexseal, and hung the Coop Sign!

Today, we are going to try attaching roof panels, attaching hardware cloth to the base, attaching the feeder, covering the run with bird netting, and then setting up the auto doors! 🎉🎉

I lost track of this thread while having a stressful time at work. Glad to see the coop progressing so well.

A not unreasonable precaution. ;)

The Little, Monitor Coop came through Hurricane Florence mainly unscathed -- just a slight leak in the nestbox roof from a tree branch damaging shingles.

It was unoccupied between my chicken flocks, but would have successfully protected the birds. :)

Well it’s a functional coop! Just gotta add bird netting and shade cloth over the run! I hate the roof haha, so before the rainy season, we will be changing it. The precut panels are just not ideal for a solid seal. I just don’t feel good about potential for leakage…plus they’re not exact sizes so they don’t line up evenly and I don’t have enough hangover for rain. So I’m gonna order big black metal sheets from Lowe’s I think. I can reuse the black panels for my quail pens. I’m super happy with everything else though! The ramps turned out great and should hopefully last! Just gotta do some little touch up stuff and then add chickens! Woohoo!!
