I live in California and not to far from Los Angeles. What is kind of funny is my cousins. They are not thrilled that we moved 'out to the country'... Very funny. We live near a LARGe city and about 45 mins from LA. We have an acre and a half in a horse/farm community. My mom's family was all migrant workers... Even some of the older cousins did some of the work in the fields. Now the second, third & forth generation is so far from all that. A few of my cousins are amused... a few were disgusted and will not walk around our yard. You should have seen the expression when we had our house warming party. We raised a lamb and a pig for the party... the BEST meat ever. There were a few who would not eat anything from here. Most of the others loved it.... Oh well... more for us.I guess my parents did right by me in sending me to my grandparents small farm in the summer they had cows, rabbits, chickens, pigeons, fruit trees and my grandfather planted a variety of veggies that he sold to the local markets. If not for that God only knows.. I was Los Angeles raised I may have turned out to think the same way. It is sad that people do not know where there food comes from or how it came to be but it is funny at the same time. My husband bought a dozen of eggs yesterday and I will not be eating them it saddens me to think of how the hens are treated so that we may have this wonderful little blessing they provide for us. We caught up with our girls through baking and breakfast so this is his solution.
