How Many Cc Of Tylan 50 Do Chickens Get? Help Asap

I am in Tennessee and I don't think we have free dr visit here, so I am doing the best I can but if he gets worse I will take him to the vet , he started out being a stray that was so skinny all he had was bones and skin and he has been here 2 years now and the best cat we ever had , however he is very old and I don't want him to suffer , he is the happiest cat to have a family that loves him that we ever had and we love him so much .

You should probably find a way to get him to a vet now rather than later. If money is a problem, like it is for me, explain that to the vet and hopefully they can come up with an affordable treatment plan. FYI, if you're the type that can do injections, you can also give your own subcutaneous fluids, just ask them to show you how if they suggest your cat will benefit from them, and that will save you a little money.

Dr Mary, I have a respiratory infection in 3 of my birds, 2 now as the vet put them on batril and the first one that got ill last tuesday died tonight. Appears to have suffocated and passed with a struggle. The vet I used is the only one in this part of the state that does any kind of poultry medicine. He's a bit arrogant and I feel he will not change to tylan if I ask him. I am going to get some tylan soluble from a breeder an hour away and plan to start that. How much should I give each bird? They are 7-8 mo old marans weighing 3.1 lbs each at the onset of the illness. I found the second one on wednesday and the third one today. I can't find the dosage per bird orally anywhere and is it single or multiple daily dosing? These are show lines and don't want to lose them if I can help it.
thank you, drfuzzette ( human medicine )

Human MD? If so, you might find the info below useful. You should also teach yourself how to tube feed:

Here is a picture of Tylan (tylosin) dosing from Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook.

This link also has dosing info:

Caution, injectable tylosin can cause severe injection site necrosis.

Tylan powder:
http://www.elanco.us/products-services/poultry/water-soluble-crd-control.aspx

CRD indications:

  • Administer medicated drinking water for three days; however, medicated water may be administered for one to five days depending upon severity of infection. Treated chickens must consume enough medicated water to provide 50 mg per pound of body weight per day. Only medicated water should be available to the birds.
