Just my experience/ observation, where to buy chicks

I see so many threads on wrong genders, wrong breed chicks. The common denominator seems to be buying chicks from places like TSC.... (this isn’t meant to slam TSC)
I purchased my layers from.a small farm and got 100% pullets. The owner told me so far this spring she had 2 that were not pullets that needed to be replaced.

For everyone here that get your chicks from places other than big box stores, what are your experiences? Did you get the breed and sex you paid for too?

I tend not to buy from local feed stores like TSC only because ive had them tell me that a breed was RIR and they were production reds. So I only buy now from hatcheries

Most of the gender threads I see are from 'local, recommended breeders'. Everything I see that, I stiffen.
