Couple questions because my internet search is leaving me confused.
1. I think my Cayuga hen mated with my Muscovy by the looks of the foliage. I thought she had mated with the mallard. Will these babies be mules if the Muscovy is the dad?

2. Can Muscovy ducks or any domestic ducks do second generation breeding without risks? I’m actually wondering if the Muscovy babies were fertilized by thier grandpa. I think the lady sold us Muscovy ducks that were related and I did not know it. Thoughts?

1) Mallard x Cayuga ducklings should be black with a white bib. Muscovy x Cayuga, well I'm not sure how they would look, plus it would depend on your Muscovy's color. If the muscovy is the dad then the ducklings will be infertile mules.

2) The more inbreeding a population has gone through in the past, the less harmful additional inbreeding is. Much of the damage is already done. Most domestic animal species are already quite inbred, so additional inbreeding usually causes less harm than you would expect.

Ugh! I hope he’s not the dad. The babies are beautiful but do not look like a mallard, not yet at least. I feel like I’m on the Jerry springer show! Who’s the dad?!

Mallard x Cayuga ducklings shouldn't look like mallards at all. They will be black with white bibs when they grow up. As ducklings, I'm not as sure, but I think that they should be black with yellow chests and yellow wing tips. You could post pictures.

I’ll post pics tomorrow, they were not cooperative today.

some pics. The first two are the same baby front and back. The third pic is the other baby. Wouldn’t hold still for a better pic. Then there’s a pic of mama cayuga and drake Muscovy.
