I messaged ra and they said a silkie x smooth will give roughly 50/50 and silkie x silkie would give 95%silkied birds

Yes. I have three hens that have raised three, four, and four broods this year. All three hens turned one year old May 1st. And one of the three is now a grandmother.

Has anybody found that seramas prefer a nesting material over others

I have not really seen a preference, but I have better luck using straw instead of shavings. I found that a straw nest holds its shape better resulting in less eggs being accidentally pushed aside and better hatches.
