Putting together our first flock

I don't have any chickens yet, but I've settled on Buff Orpingtons as Bajouchica suggested. Reasons: Brown Egg layers, mild-mannered, good about brooding, attractive, and a well-proven breed. At present, I would like all my chickens to be of the same breed.

We have RIR mix.....Golden Comets...and just yesterday, my 17 Buff Orpingtons arrived. I read they are good layers, and gentle. My grandson loves to come out and hold the chickens....so I am hopeing this helps with keeping them tame. Pics later...of my new arrivals!
