you can compete in the ring or you can choose to go in as a Jr handler where the handler is judged and learns skills vs the dog being judged.

So like a 4-h showmanship? I want to compete, I talked to mom and she said maybe, I'm think about talking to my breeder and asking her if she has anybody who will Co-Own a puppy with me, cuz I have to buy him( I'd be showing a male) and his stuff and he him self is 1,500 with breeding rights( that are restricted) so all together ill need about 2.5 to start off with, right?
Can you give me a estimate?

What does the breeder mean by with breeding rights that are restricted?

The last male I placed with a Jr Handler was placed at no cost to her BUT I retained co-ownership on the dog and all breeding rights until the dog was a finished Champion then she got full ownership but I had breeding rights for all bitches owned or co owned by me. There were also other requirements that stated she had to show him at least once a month and first and foremost she had to maintain a B+ grade average.

Personally if a Jr approached me looking for a male I would do it again if they could show me they were responsible.

Hi there,
I started showing dogs in my late teens (many moons ago!) and currently show Newfoundlands and beagles in both conformation and multiple performance events. In general, a junior that shows they are serious about the sport, comes to and/or volunteers at events and is willing to learn has a far better chance at being mentored. While you are waiting for or saving for your puppy it's a great time to go to events, club functions, etc. and make contacts. I know many juniors that started with nothing more than a love of dogs and are now assisting professional handlers. Good luck and welcome to the craziness that is the dog show world.

Is it common to have those two breeds together? Or- do you have anything to do with Tanya's Falcon? Cause if you do, it really is a small world!

Not really, I know one other person in the Newf world with beagles but I'm sure there are many less active that I don't know. Most Newf people have Porties or Norwich as their second breed. I don't know Tanya or Falcon but it sounds like she has great taste in dogs!;)
