Vent sexing or venting is reliable. Before color and feather sexing was incorporated into commercial poultry, vent sexing was the only way to separate males and females at hatching. It was a bit of an art, but there was a family that would come in on hatch day and sex thousands of leghorn chicks.

Some may, but feather sexing for white birds is much faster. For brown egg layers it is even easier, with males one color and females another.

Looks solid. Feathers looking good and fluffy. Im sure you wouldn't have pick up anything but the best. You've seen more and know a lot more about them than I do.

I was under the impression it was only for chicks with one parent of a fast feathering breed and the other of a slow feathering---I forget which side each had to be on.

I do not know about leghorns, but most breeds where feather sexing or color are not at play, then vent sexing used.
