Yes sir, your right about that fluke chance. I can say I've had dogs and other critters chew and bend my pen wires. Knock on wood, I still have not had one door fail on my wire pens.

Like I said, it was a dome pen and they are much more flimsy than if attached to wood. Much more flex in the wire pen around the door on impact.

Also my neighbor is a shooting range and I’ve had a dog blast through the fence, kids running,lawnmower weed eating etc.. they know the difference when something is trying to kill them.

There's no wood on my 4x4 pens to attach a door to.

Looking at the front of them the opening is 18"w x 16" h and the door is cut one size larger in both ways.

I can see it. My doors are much bigger so that I can get in them to clean. (4x8). Mine are obviously much more flimsy than yours. Makes sense.
