My TJ's lockdown is late on the 9th! Haven't seen much with tonight's candling. Some porous shells, but no veins or cracks.

I'm so confused. Aren't the eggs refrigerated? Doesn't that kill the embryo?

No, they don't die. They haven't begun forming yet and so the refrigeration is just kind of suspended animation, if you will. The blastoderm (pre-embryo) remains viable for up to a couple of weeks before they lose integrity.

I just saw the Raley's in town carries brown fertile eggs. My daughter thinks we should set some in January.

Did a candling at Day 6 and all 12 were clear. Eggtopsy revealed most all were NOT fertile, period. No bullseye.

Either some rooster is slacking or TJ's is just filling the cartons willy-nilly.

Not all TJ's carry fertile ones. Were these labeled as fertile?

Yes. Yes, they were. And only 8 days out from packing.
