Valentines Day Hatch-A-Long 2016

Jan 21st I set 40 eggs. Candles then on day 4 due to faulty humidity gauge and I think all but 3-5 look great. Very clean signs.

I set 7 light brahma orp mixes. Her ee didn't cooperate in laying any the past 5 days, so just these!

Awesome. Buff Orpington rooster crossed with Light Brahma hens will produce sexlinked chicks.

I set mine last night, so we're probably going to be a day late but... Got 4 barnyard mixes and 15 CCL crossed with Isabelle leghorns. Pretty excited to see what they look like!

The Isabelle coloring uses the self-blue/Lavender recessive dilute. You will not get any Isabelle colored chicks in first generation crossings.

Aww boooo. No huge loss, I went into this for the egg color rather than feather color. Still, what color do you think they'll be then? What Genetics do the CCLs use?

The Legbar is the rooster, so if I'm understanding you correctly the female chicks should be golden and the male chicks black and white?

I think that that is what should happen, but I could be wrong.

Chicken genetics can be really, really complicated.

I just sat 10 eggs. Some will be black sex links and some will be rir mix.
