that may be on the menu tonight, got some from my uncle and they are very ripe and ready to go. The next batch he has ready will be frozen some sliced some diced. My son likes them for smoothies, he says milkshakes

Finally, I got one of the 2 big fancy ribbons...maybe next year I'll win and get the big brown and cream Hershey's ribbon...it's my goal.

I also entered Gump's bread in the fair. I got 2nd on that too just because they didn't like how it looked. They didn't think it had risen enough, but I couldn't get it any higher in the pan and I had to make it in a pan. The judge told my grandma (the woman didn't know it was my bread and grandma didn't tell her) that there was a bread that they weren't even going to taste because they didn't think it looked as nice as it should, but they tried it anyway and said it was awesome...so I got 2nd.

Congratulations! 2nd place (twice!) is nothing to be sneezed at. You keep it up and it won't be long before you have a whole case of 1st place ribbons. You have to start somewhere and second place is GREAT!

Back to making more Dutch Oven bread. Made the Rye recipe and it was good. I'm not a fan of Carraway seeds and was glad that this recipe was seedless. Have just a plain one going today for baking off tonight.

Baking has been taking a back seat lately since I'm having to learn how to make 30 minute Mozzarella by the 28th of this month. I'm teaching a cheese making class at the local gourmet kitchen shop and when they asked if I could do Mozzarella as well as goat and yogurt cheese I said yes. I figured I had a month to learn and honestly I have been struggling a bit

. I almost have it down and will be making cheese every night for next two weeks to get it perfect. So wish me luck!

Oh Sandee how cool! Maybe we need a cheese making thread so you can teach us! I have been dying to try making some home made cheese but am not sure how to start - do you have a favorite book you can recommend or can you share how you got started?

Here is link on BYC that is very helpful. I taught myself using a book by Ricki Carroll (the link is below). This is where I get all my supplies. If you try cheese and have questions, please feel free to PM me and I do my best to help out.
