Buff Orpingtons Chicken Breed Information Pictures

View attachment 1621500 View attachment 1621500 View attachment 1621501 loved reading this article, I also raised my Buffs from chicks, they hatched on the 5th of July so they are very special birds. Unfortunately Mr fox thought so too and helped himself to three of them. I have two left one male, one female, they are very friendly, love having their tummy tickled but don’t really like being cuddled too much, although I can’t resist. Here they are at the patio door asking for treats !!
Excellent article and I love the pictures of your girls and coop as well as it’s design and that of the run. I have three four week old Black and Lavender Orpingtons among a 9 member flock of all docile breeds of birds. The other two breeds are Swedish Flower Hens and Creme Legbars. The Orpingtons were our first choice and we wanted Buffs but the hatchery was all out due to the pandemic and would not have any available for several weeks. I waited a month to get the three Orpingtons which I could get so I took them with ease since the temperament was supposed to be the same. I believe their value is even a little higher monetarily but I won’t be selling or showing mine just spoiling them and trying to keep them as safe and in the best care that we can here at our home. We love all of the 9 already and none are mean at all or have given in to any mean or problematic behaviors. It seems as if they all are so sweet and love one another and me especially. They come when called and some fly right to me or step up into my hands. I never knew having chickens would be such a joy. They are some work but worth it. They are so enjoyable. I sure have enjoyed your page and I showed it to my husband and he agrees you have an awesome setup and group of nice cared for and beautiful hens.
Take care. Stay well and my best to you and your hens.

I really enjoyed this write up! I usually don't, find so many lacking on here with a personal touch but not this one. Learned a lot, got a few smiles, studied the authors run set up and all the little personable comments. I'm completely sold on Buff's now.
I have two Buff Orpington chicks asking with other breeds, and I'm amazed at how far ahead they are compared to their counterparts! Far more advanced in every way. Specially Buffy. Yes I know-how vet original name. :lau
We also have Buff Orpingtons and I appreciate their gentle and tame nature. Whenever we get new chicks I'm the one that tames them so that also adds to it. This thread is so funny and I love all the photos and I love how you worded everything. It's a rare gift now days to for people to have the gift of using words.

great article I have 2 buffs but one is brooding. How did you break her?
Thank you for this article it actually was the deciding factor on what type of chickens I would be raising! I am so happy that I made that decision because these birds are awesome. At 19 weeks we are still a few weeks off from egg-laying but they bring me much joy everyday. with that said, I'm hoping that you can help with a buff rooster who has balance issues. He is not using one of his legs, keeps it kind of kicked out from his body and using his wings to balance. Are you want there are no visible injuries, no swelling, redness or scaliness. We have treated him for bumblefoot and that hasn't worked. He does have mites and we are treating him now. But otherwise he's eating and drinking just fine. Crowing when he wants something LOL and overall enjoying the attention. Any ideas what might be affecting my beautiful fluffy butt? Thank you in advance! Sorry for posting here but can't figure out how to post in the emergency forum!
Entertaining and informative. Thanks!
Love the story and all of the great pics!
Very good! We’re newbies and have 4 buffs now at 40 days. Wonderful birds.

I really enjoy reading this article, as well as looking at all the pictures. I have one buff orpington pullet in my small flock, so I found this article looking for info on her breed. Since, I have read it a few times! It helps as little reminder of what to look for in my little buff.

Buff Orpingtons are so pretty. I purchased mine, not just for their beauty but because they said they have a very good flavor. I bought them to eat and they look like they taste good. Thanks for your article and pictures.
Interesting! Pretty girls. ❤️❤️ We have one too! Ours tells me secrets.
