Chicken Behavior The Ignorant Gal's Guide To Things No Sane Person Would Tell You About Chickens

please make this chapter 1 of the book you simply must write.
This is so true - I see all this and more in my little flock!
I am only at the beginning and this article has me mentally cracking up AND thinking about my upcoming foray into chickening. You see for now they are brooding and begging to get out. COVID hit me a couple weeks back; hubby then got sick (neg. COVID supposedly) and coop building got put on hold. He states today will be a whole coop project day after worship. We won't mention how I have to get yet more, um, what's that stuff called, cattle fencing, chicken wire?? Whatever the think, galvanized stuff that goes all over/around the coop to keep predators out. Well, I need more, but have to wait until the third for pay day, then order and wait for delivery.

Long story short the bad boy should be done by Sept. 10. This article meanwhile is prepping me for my chicks free-ranging life ahead.

Thank you so much for thinking to put this stuff down in writing for it is invaluable. :yesss:
Wonderful humorous article! These anecdotes are made even funnier by the fact that every chicken owner has experienced at least one of them.
love it
learned tons laugh some and glad i read it
So glad I read this article, it was freaking hilarious! 🤣
Beautiful hilarious writing! And I learned a TON TOO!
Wild Woman, I Love how you write. Had me in stitches, and husband looking at me thinking I've gone around the bend, says "What?" And between laughter and tears all I could get out was "...chicken...POOP!" He nods wisely & goes calmly back to reading. and it's all true!

Hysterical and wonderfully written!
I guffawed reading this to myself and then read it out loud to the fam to guffaw together. I am now prepared for the items listed.

My existence a constant state of believing every live thing is perpetually on the verge of death or actually dead (particularly napping baby chicks) so reading about ... (I forget the name) ... the vampire chicken who just falls over in the sun (?) was super helpful. So many fun things to look forward to.

There are scores of us who know nothing about the antics of chickens and are now blessed for having read your article. Thank you.
hysterical...my husband calls our hens...chicken dogs...We have 2 australian shepherds, 3 barn cats, 2 quarter horse and our 8 wyndottes,,,we started with 11 and something swooped 3 of them off, 2 hens and a rooster within 3 days and we haven't had any issues since then and that was about 9 months ago. There was never a feather or a squawk that we heard.
Hilarious and very true!
Wonderfully written and so truthfully funny. It's the best crazy chicken article ever.
🤣🤣🤣 I cannot wait to read your book! Start writing now! I'm sending this to friends and family because it is hilarious (all be it true!) and I know even those without chickens will enjoy the humor.
Excellent, and hilarious at the same time. Very helpful, and very funny! thank you so much! :lau
:thumbsup Absolutely brilliant and very VERY true ! Have experienced the same (apart from roosters - we're in a village and can't see the neighbours ever accepting one lol). Ours love digging out all the pebbles and gravel from around the patio edges and covering the whole patio in walking and slipping hazards...........
