Since the chicks keep on growing and the weather is still not cooperating so we can build the coop with the run we had to come up with an temporary solution. So this is what we came up with and the chicks seem to approve.
With a width of 29 inches,so it can go through the door of the basement and a length of 8 feet, slide out top, covered with chicken wire and a door on one side, with hinges, this unit can be moved pretty much anywhere ,inside or outside.
We made a shavings kickboard so when it is inside, it will contain the shavings when the chicks are scratching. With a handle one one side and 2 casters on the other side I can move this fairly easy. It is certainly not light weight and might still need an additional 2 wheels for ease of moving.
