Breed Information, Comments, and Experience with breed:

Cochins of all varieties are very docile, sturdy, and compact birds. They are cold hardy and need shade in hot climates. They have feathered feet, yellow shanks, and red earlobes. They should have a single comb, which is the thin comb with points. They feather slow compared to standard breeds, but not horribly so. Cochins are generally good layers, I get normally 5 or so eggs from each bird a week. They are bad for not laying during intense heat waves. They are brilliant mothers, often broody too!
