Java Mottled Java Created by TACEYPERKINS Breed Information, Comments, and Experience with breed:
I love this breed! This heritage breed is a wonderful addition to your barnyard flock. In my experience they are neither submissive or dominant. They are wonderfully curious which makes them fun to watch. My kids even pick them up. They are awesome at foraging, making food bills lower. As for a larger chicken, they make a great dual purpose bird. Delivering a steady amount of eggs and a great meat bird too. In my opinion they are a great all around bird. Very hardy and beautiful. A strong looking bird that is fun to be around. This breed is on the critical list, you can help them by adding some to your flock! Check out my website for more info on this wonderful breed!

This is Brewster. He is my main breeding roo. He is wonderful to his girls, and very observant. He has beautiful black feathers with a pretty green sheen. Big red comb and wattles and yellow tint to his legs and feet. He is a sweet heart & we love him!

My hens are wonderful and sweet. They are a little shy but will allow you to still pick them up.One of my hens went broody for the first time and she still allowed me to pet her, pick her up and touch the eggs. They are very curious and instinctual.
Male

Both male and female 1 mth old chicks. As you can tell, you can see how they are starting to show which one is the roo. After a couple mths they molt out and completely loose all the white and replace it with their black mottled feathers.

I've got a Mottle Java pullet that will be a year old the first week of August. She went broody in May, I gave her 3 store bought chicks which she raised for 5 weeks and is now quite aggressive to them (the rest of the flock will not allow her to roost with them because she is too mean to the chicks (who roost with the rest of the flock). She laid eggs for 2 weeks and is now broody again. She does not have spurs but, I would say she has abnormal hormones for her age. I have noticed that most of my hens (all breeds) have little nubs where roosters would grow spurs (kind of like men have nipples). As beautiful and people friendly as she is, she's not living up to her side of the bargain for sure!

Yeah mine went broody but I was able to cure her of that they say to let them you know lay her eggs but then after she's done laying her daily egg I removed her from the nest and made her come out with the rest of them of course the rest of them did not like that she was all puffed up and broody specially my top hen she was not having that but with constantly removing her and not letting her sit on the nest has cured her so she hasn't been doing that thank goodness but I do have to take her in as soon as I can get her into a vet which since the pandemic is so hard to get your animals any kind of care because they're always booked or first come first serve but now the problem that I'm having with her is she constantly would grab vegetable tags the white hard plastic ones and I thought that I got all of them but since then I had seen her and I tried to get one and she already ate a piece of it I'm thinking that's what caused her impacted crop so I'm dealing with that it's pendulum now so I'm working on trying to break it up not sure really what else to do I watched a video to massage it kind of turn her upside down for a minute massage it bring her back up I hope it works and I brought her a crop bra that'll arrive here tomorrow
